Senior Health & Wellness Classes

Aquacise (Pool)

Aquacise is a co-ed water program. The program is designed to meet your individual level of difficulty. No swimming ability necessary. Focuses on improving muscle tone, circulation and flexibility.

Silver Sneakers Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion and the ability to complete activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball are all used during the class, and a chair is used for seating and/or standing support.

Twinges N Hinges (Pool)

This water exercise program is designed to help relieve joint pain and stiffness and is certified under the Des Moines chapter of the Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA of the USA. The program includes range of motion, strengthening and flexibility exercises led by a certified water instructor. No swimming ability necessary.

Zumba Gold

Zumba Gold takes the popular Latin-dance inspired workout of Zumba and makes it accessible for seniors, beginners or others needing modifications in their exercise routine. The class builds cardiovascular health by challenging the heart and working the muscles of the hips, legs and arms with dance moves.

Health & Wellness Classes

Aqua Fitness (Pool)

This program is designed to meet your individual level of difficulty. No swimming ability necessary. Not only does Aqua Fitness help improved joint function and flexibility, but it also improves muscle tone, circulation, range of motion and relieves joint pain.

Join others in this life-changing workout that is designed to provide weight loss, muscle endurance and overall health enrichment while developing a feeling of confidence that comes from your own hard work. It is designed to provide a balanced mixture of aerobic, circuit training, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates and plyometric exercises that will help your body get the most out of each workout.

Cardio Circuit

This is an aerobics class that uses the Nautilus weight machines along with the doing free exercise to music. It includes 38 stations which only last 30 seconds each. The class concentrates on high repetitions and low weight. There is pulse monitoring that takes place halfway through the workout, as well as at the end of class.

Line Dancing

This class is a fun way to dance your way to good health. It combines low, moderate and high energy line dance routines and will help you burn calories at the same time.

Les Mills’ Body Pump™

The original 60-minute barbell class! This class will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body. Great bodies aren’t born; they are transformed using the proven Body Pump formula, The Rep Effect – a breakthrough in resistance workout training. Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movement, you’ll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning by challenging all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift and curl.

Triple T

This class is focused around the idea of Train. Tighten. Tone. Resistance equipment and cardio training techniques will be used to improve endurance and build strength.

A unique class designed to build strength and gain flexibility. The moves fit perfectly together to form a class filled with intense choreography that’s fun, challenging and will make you sweat. It’s about energy, power and rhythm.

Spinning Combo

Spinning is an intense bicycling class where you will work up a sweat and increase cardiovascular fitness while completing a variety of different cycling exercises.

Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. A BOSU ball is a fitness training device used for balancing techniques and coordination. Put the two together, and you’ve got one amazing workout!

This class is quick 30 minute, upbeat full body workout for all ages. Boosting metabolism and toning your muscles. You will go at your own speed with different workouts using your own body weight and hand weights. See results while having fun working out.

HITT Classes

High-Intensity Interval Training is a training technique in which you give one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more calories in less time.
