This class is for all levels and provides a solid foundation of movement-based yoga. Includes basic poses, fundamentals of alignment, relaxation and breathing. Postures are practiced to align, strengthen and promote flexibility in the body. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers. Yoga will lead toward balancing the mind, body, and spirit for a better life.

Dana was raised in Donnellson and now resides in Fort Madison with her husband and two sons. Becoming a mother, Dana found new challenges with her weight and blood pressure. She knew it was up to her to make some drastic changes to improve her personal health. Implementing a regular workout regimen and running schedule changed her life. She had found a true love for personal health and fitness and set out to challenge herself even further. Dana began participating in races completing numerous 5K and 10K runs, and successfully completed a half marathon in October 2018 finishing first in her age group. Having reached many of her fitness goals, Dana set out to help others and found just the place to do that at the Fort Madison Y. She began participating in team fitness challenges, taking classes, and utilizing the facility to its fullest; all while helping others along the way. So when she was approached by the Y to become an instructor, she went for it, knowing that she could fulfill her desire to help others with their own personal fitness goals.
