The Fort Madison YMCA Learning Centers is licensed by the Department of Human Services. Staff is required to have 6 hours of training hours per year. Additionally, staff is required to take CPR, First aid, Universal Precautions, and Mandatory Reporter.
We believe that a child’s social, physical, and intellectual growth is encouraged through emotional security and creative expression. Children are accepted for their uniqueness and individualism. Development is encouraged at the child’s individual rate. We never force the natural development process. We believe that it is the responsibility of our child care programs and qualified staff to understand the general skills children need to know. To introduce learning experiences we provide age approximate levels daily with daily lesson plans and activities to go with them. We occasionally go on walks around the neighborhood, go to the park, and have story hour weekly.
